My Home for Life Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) were established under the Older Americans Act (OAA) in 1973 to respond to the needs of Americans 60 and over in every local community. By providing a range of options that allow older adults to choose the home and community-based services and living arrangements that suit them best, AAAs make it possible for older adults to remain in their homes and communities as long as possible. The Jefferson Area Board for Aging (JABA), located in Charlottesville Virginia has been serving the needs of the aging community in the Thomas Jefferson Planning district (Charlottesville, Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson Counties) since 1975. JABA is one of the most innovative and successful aging organizations in the nation. Working with state and local government, educational institutions, private citizens, businesses, and other non-profit organizations, JABA has consistently risen to the challenge of its mission: adding dignity, comfort, security, independence, and fulfillment to the lives of older adults and their families. In 2007, JABA established My Home for Life (MHFL), which was a private-pay, subscription-based services program designed to help seniors live independently in their own homes. By servicing MHFL members, it became apparent that certain products could be very helpful for older adults to remain in their homes. The E-commerce website of My Home for Life was created to provide high quality products at reasonable prices. Products on this site have been screened by the MHFL team and can be purchased with confidence. If there are any questions or problems with items purchased on this site, the MHFL team will be available to assist you. |
